Each year Club members have the opportunity to enter their artwork into an art contest. Artwork is categorized into different sections based on age and type of art. To start, their artwork is judged at the local level. If their piece of art is deemed a winner, then it will advance to the regional event for further judging. At the regional event, if their artwork is chosen then it will advance to the Boys & Girls Club national show.
It is our honor to announce that our Club member, Malaya Owens, had her piece of art selected as a winner at the regional event. Her piece “Monster Dance” won in the age 16 to 18 Printmaking Category. She now has the opportunity to attend the national show, where her artwork will be judged one final time. We are very proud of her accomplishment and wish her luck going forward.
The Boys & Girls Clubs strives to give Club members opportunities to express themselves. Art is one of the tremendous ways to do that. Through our fine arts programs, Club members are able to express themselves through drama, music, and art. Fine arts is one of the many ways that Club kids can work towards building Great Futures.
